The stories will be pre-circulated before each class.
No prior knowledge is necessary, and all are welcome! The stories will be pre-circulated before each class, but there will be no other coursework to be completed outside of class time. As a group, we will devote the entire hour each week to one of the six stories, considering how the place and culture that serves as its backdrop informs the story’s content and style. Over six weeks, we will read six stories, one from each inhabited continent. This course will explore how place and culture inform the short fiction form.
